Here in Whangarei we are starting to notice a trend away from the minimalist, unframed, stretched canvas artwork. This trend has been happening in the UK and USA for the last year and now in NZ, but fear not, we have a solution and a compromise by using our range of floater frames, these frames allow the artwork to still retain its minimal look but surrounded with an outer frame that does not rest against the artwork; it gives the impression that it is floating within the frame. This is a fantastic look and is a great solution for those people wishing to stay abreast of the ever changing world of art and home décor trends.

Interestingly, many of our customers have been surprised that it is not advisable to hang artwork above a fireplace or any other winter heating source. Fluctuating temperatures can easily warp and buckle framing materials and, in extreme cases, crack the glass.

A reminder that at this time of the year UV light is at its greatest intensity. More and more we are seeing the results of excess amounts of ultra violet rays fading artwork many times beyond its original colouring. If you have artwork that you treasure, consider UV filtering glass. We stock this glass in both clear and non-reflect finishes.
