These instructions are intended for needlework on even weave fabrics but not for fabrics such as satins, silks, etc.

Preferably your needlework should be washed and flattened before framing. Although you may wash your hands prior to commencing your needlework naturally produced oils from your skin can transfer onto the fabric and yellow over time. We suggest that you wash your completed needlework using tepid water and Sunlight soap.

Take care not to vigorously rub your needlework fabric, gently work the tepid water through the fabric. For stubborn stains you may need to gently rub the fabric but take care not to damage the fibres as this can cause fuzzing.

Once you are satisfied that your needlework appears clean gently squeeze (do not wring) the excess water out and rinse thoroughly in cold water, again squeezing out the excess water.

Place your damp, but not dripping, needlework onto an old towel (not new as there may still be excess dye in the towel) and carefully roll it up. Squeeze out the excess water from your needlework into the towel.

Unroll the needlework and place it face down on a clean towel in a warm place (a hot water cupboard is good) to dry. When totally dry use a clean iron and press from the reverse side of the fabric on a dry setting (not steam).

DO NOT fold your needlework when transporting it to Hidden House Picture Framing for framing. If possible, place on a board in a flat position or roll it onto a tube (handy towel inners are ideal) or rolled in a clean dry towel.
