Conservation framing is the term
given to materials and techniques used in framing of an item that are
of conservation or museum quality. These materials are made of 100%
cotton rag and alpharag.
Cotton rag dates back many centuries and refers to the cotton rags and
trimmings that were the raw materials used for making quality papers,
unlike non-conservation materials that are made of acidic wood pulp
cardboard. By using framing materials made from cotton fibres, artwork
is assured the best possible environment within a frame.
For your consideration, we recommend combing conservation and museum
quality materials with the use of ultra violet (UV) filtering glass,
which will protect your artwork from the harsh effects of light.
" Does my artwork need conservation framing?"
You may have an item of artwork or a possession that you particularly
treasure. It may have monetary, historical or sentimental value. By
choosing conservation framing your treasured piece can be enhanced and
protected from atmospheric contaminants and preserved for the future.
In addition to our conservation framing we have a conservator's referral
service with many of New Zealand's leading conservators, for those artworks
and items that are slightly the worse for wear and need a bit of TLC
prior to framing.
